8/12/2019 (Permalink)

After a fire has struck your home it can be overwhelming as to what happens next. SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties urges you to give us call so we can give you peace of mind when you need it most. SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties specializes in restoring contents damaged by water, fire, or mold. Our “restore” versus “replace” mentality can help save you money- especially when it comes to furniture. We use several cleaning methods including:

  • Foam Cleaning- This method is used for upholstery fabrics that might shrink or bleed if wet cleaned.
  • Spray and Wipe- We utilize this method for items that can’t withstand wet cleaning.
  • Wet Cleaning- This is the most effective cleaning method for removing moderate to heavy residues.
  • Abrasive Cleaning- This method involves agitation of the surface being cleaned.
  • Immersion Cleaning- Using this method, contents are dipped into a bath of the cleaning product.
  • Dry Cleaning- We use this approach to clean light residues or to pre-clean prior to wet cleaning.

All of our methods use the latest technology to give your furniture the best chance of restoration. Should you need help after a fire, we have 24-hour emergency service and are “Faster to any size disaster.” Give SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties a call at 765-575-8654, and we’ll make it “Like it never even happened.”

What Should You Do After A Fire?

4/24/2019 (Permalink)

A house fire is every homeowner’s nightmare; the aftermath can feel like the flames are always there to haunt you. However, with help from SERVPRO, you can have your home back to its smoke-free original state, “Like it never even happened.” SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties offer many fire services including fire restoration, water damage, odor removal, and carpet and upholstery cleaning.

A few tips SERVPRO suggests following after a fire:

  1. Be sure to limit the movement throughout the home after the fire has occurred. Movement can cause soot particles to become embedded into upholstery and carpets, making it a lot harder to clean and bring back to its original state.
  2. Ensure you have a helping hand to move items out of the home. Wet materials can be extremely heavy and hard for one person to manage. Proper lifting techniques can result in overall success for everyone and everything involved. A huge bonus to using SERVPRO’s team of professionals… they will move your damaged items for you.
  3. After you turn your electricity off, remember to empty out your refrigerator and freezer. Prop open the doors once emptied so it can be aired out.
  4. Stay safe. Don’t attempt to wash walls, shampoo carpets, clean electrical appliances, turn on ceiling fans, or dry clean clothing before contacting SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties. Doing these simple tasks can expose you to harmful toxins. SERVPRO has specialized technicians and scientific processes to help remove the toxins from your home. Let us help you stay safe.

We hope you never experience the nightmare of a house fire, but if you do, contact SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties at 765-575-8654, We’ll make it “Like it never even happened.”

Henry County Smoke and Soot Cleanup

8/11/2016 (Permalink)

Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and soot facts:

  • Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.

  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.

  • The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Henry and Randolph Counties will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke– Plastic and Rubber

  • Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke– Paper and Wood

  • Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue– Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

  • Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.
